How should I split utilities with my roommates?

I would be weary when it comes to the "One person pays and everyone else pays them back" route because as great as I'm sure your roommates are, you still have to cover yourself. What happens if you pay and for some reason someone cant pay you back, I would say to be easy everyone put a bill in their name and pay that one or you can go the old fashioned route of adding all the bills together and splitting it all evenly, but that can become a hassle and confusing in the long run. It really depends on what you all feel comfortable with and be sure to consider factors such as who watches a lot of TV .. who has the home recording studion in their room (uses more electricity) and so on and so forth and go from there.
