How much of my paycheck should I be putting into my 401k?

Ideally, you should put in the maximum your employer allows and do it early. Since it's pre-tax, most likely you won't even miss it and will adapt to the deduction from your paycheck more easily. At minimum, put what your employer will match since their contribution is essentially free money. Otherwise, pick somewhere between 4-15% of your gross income.
